Year in Review: The Launch Your Box Podcast’s Top Guests of 2024
Dec 15, 2024Dive into the Launch Your Box Podcast's top 2024 guests: subscription box entrepreneurs and industry experts share inspiring stories and business strategies.
It has been another amazing year on the Launch Your Box Podcast. We hit 500,000 downloads of our more than 175 episodes!
Every week, so many of you tune in to learn and get inspired. Some episodes are just me talking to you, coach to student. I share tips and strategies about all things subscription box and small business. A lot of the episodes are timely, addressing challenges you might be facing right then (like reducing inventory at year-end). Others are tactical, focused on helping you make progress toward launching and growing your subscription box business.
But some of my favorite episodes – and your favorites, too – are when I interview guests. And this year’s guests brought it. Their episodes were full of actionable tips & strategies, inspiration, and insight.
As always, I highlighted members of my Launch Your Box community. I love sharing their stories with the podcast audience. Some episodes featured subscription box owners who have recently launched and are at the beginning of their journeys. There is so much to learn from their stories!
Of course, I had to bring some of my veteran subscription box owners onto the show, too. Some – like Cheryl Ham and Andrea & Whitney of Cotton Chaos – were return guests. All shared their stories of growing and scaling their subscription box businesses, and how they met and conquered challenges along the way.
We talk inside Launch Your Box about knowing when to consult an expert. We can’t know all the things, but we can seek out people who do. That’s why I also brought some industry experts onto the podcast this year. They talked about everything from Facebook Ads to adding revenue streams, and the financial health of your small business to 3rd party fulfillment.
In this post, I’m recapping each of these inspiring interviews and linking the full episode – it’ll be so easy for you to revisit your favorite interviews and catch up on any you missed.
Soak up some learning and get inspired by these incredible guests of 2024 as you plan for your next big move in 2025!
From Idea to Launching a Subscription Box
These podcast guests took their subscription box businesses from idea to launch and beyond. Their stories will inspire you to keep going, even when things get tough, on your way to launching to your own subscribers.
Episode 147 – From Idea to a Sold-Out Launch in 3 Weeks with Sweet Tea Living
Have you ever read an entire book in one day? Has a book ever given you exactly what you needed exactly when you needed it? When Megan Hoiosen of Sweet Tea Living got her hands on my book, One Box at a Time, she took the day off and read it straight through. And three weeks later, she had a sold-out launch of her brand-new subscription box.
Megan’s advice to new subscription box owners is simple. “Take that one next step.”
Episode 148 – From 15 to 200 Subscribers in a Year with the Maven Box
Growing your subscription box business with paid traffic is great… Until it isn’t.
One great way to choose a subscription box niche is to identify a gap in the market and fill it. An even better way is to identify a gap in a market you are passionate about. Launch You Box member Bridget Young of Lunar Maven did both. And it paid off.
Tune into this episode to learn how Bridget grew her subscription box from 15 to 200 subscribers in a year and what changes she needs to make to continue to grow despite rising ad costs.
Episode 158 – It's NEVER Too Late to Start, from Retirement to Subscription Box Owner
I’m not saying I have favorite episodes of the Launch Your Box Podcast. Because truly, they are all fantastic. But… There’s something special about Bev and her story.
Bev joined Launch Your Box and jumped in with both feet, going through the training and implementing what she learned. Bev followed the launch plan I teach inside the training library and launched her bimonthly box.
The results? Bev sold out her first launch with 80 subscribers! And when she opened back up in time for the next box, she sold out again, adding 45 more subscribers for a total of 130. That’s right - Bev passed the 100 subscriber mark on only her second box
There is so much about Bev’s story that inspired me and will inspire you. And part of that is her age. Bev is 61. She started her business when she was 55. A lot of people think they’re “too old” to start a subscription box business or any type of small business. If that sounds like you, Bev has a message for you. “It’s never too late to get started!”
It doesn’t matter if you are in your 30s, 40s, 50s, or beyond….it’s never too late to start your subscription box business.
Episode 168 – 0 to 6 Figures with a $300 Marketing Budget with Huckleberry Gems
Katie reached 6-figures in subscription box revenue with a $300 marketing budget.
What? Is that possible?
Katie’s advice for anyone getting started is to get super focused on one thing to build your business and then, once you’ve mastered it, look to add something else. Build your following and build your list. Katie started with Facebook Ads and then moved on to building her email list.
In this episode, Katie and I talk through how she started her business and grew it to six figures in seven months with a marketing budget of only $300 a month!
Episode 170 – From Subscription Box Week to Subscription Box Owner in 30 Days with Tracey Phillips
Tracey Phillips takes action. She joined my Subscription Box Week in June of this year and within 30 days had launched her subscription (to more than 100 subscribers) and started generating recurring revenue. She continues to inspire members inside Launch Your Box and I know she’ll inspire you, too!
I love Tracey’s advice for anyone thinking about starting a subscription box. Don’t wait for things to be perfect – she didn’t. Understand that even if the answer to a challenge doesn’t come easily or right away, it will come.
Most of all, Tracey wants you to connect with your audience, show up as you are, and “do what Sarah says!” Those are her words, not mine. But…
Tracey welcomed more subscribers in her second month and just keeps growing. The sky's the limit for this subscription box owner.
Established Subscription Box Owners Growing, Scaling, and Still Learning
When you’re getting started on your subscription box journey, launching feels like the end goal. It’s not. Really, launching is just the beginning.
Growing and scaling bring new opportunities and new challenges. It takes stepping into your role as the CEO of your business to take on these challenges and build a thriving, sustainable subscription box business.
These interviews teach listeners how to take things to the next level, but also share insights, tips, and strategies that benefit subscription box owners at every stage of their journey.
Episode 161 – Baking Their Way to a Subscription Box Business
This was SUCH a fun interview! It featured four subscription box owners who have something in common. They’re all bakers and they all turned their passion for baking into a successful subscription box.
Each serves a different niche and each followed a different journey. All are SO inspiring! One even appeared on the Food Network!
In this episode, you’ll meet Jenny, Jonica, Kimberly, and Lauren, four women who turned their passion for food and serving others into successful subscription box businesses.
Episode 165 – Quit Being Extreme & Start Being Consistent with Cotton Chaos
Two busy moms with six kids between them became best friends, bought a Cricut machine to start making custom t-shirts, and now have more than 800 monthly subscribers to their T-Shirt Club.
Of course, there’s a little more to the story than that! If you’re feeling stuck in your subscription box journey, Whitney and Andrea will help get you unstuck!

Episode 173 – Is It Time for a Commercial Space? With Cheryl Ham
Most of us launch our subscription box businesses from a spare bedroom, the garage, or even the kitchen table. But when do you make the decision to move out of the house and into your own commercial space?
Cheryl Ham isn’t just a repeat guest, she’s a three-peat guest! She’s been on the show in the past talking about challenges she faced at different stages of growth in her subscription box business.
In this episode, Cheryl and I talk about the challenges she faced and continues to face as her subscription box business evolves, moving into her new commercial space, and why subscription box owners need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Bringing in the Experts
When it comes to subscription boxes, I know a lot about a lot. And I share that knowledge with you here and on the podcast. I share even more inside Launch Your Box and Scale Your Box.
But I don’t know everything about everything. When I need answers to questions I have about how to continue moving my subscription box business forward, I turn to the experts. And when those experts teach me things I know will help all of you, I invite them on the podcast!
Episode 152 – Streamline Your Subscription Box with a Fulfillment Center
What if you never had to pack and ship your subscription boxes again? How would that change your business… and your life?
Ryan Culver of Lessgistics joined me for this episode to talk all things subscription box fulfillment center.
Ryan shares info about when you should consider working with a fulfillment center, what a 3rd party fulfillment center can do for your subscription box business, and how the money you’ll save on shipping costs can just about pay for the fulfillment services!
Episode 153 – Stop Worrying about Sales and Start Thinking about Profitability
Does it feel like you are making good sales, but nothing is left in your bank account at the end of each month? Are you bringing in enough revenue to cover your overhead and pay your employees but can’t pay yourself? I’ve been there. If you’re a small business owner, you’ve been there, too.
It’s time to change how we think about sales and profitability. And I have the perfect person to help us do just that.
In this episode, Ciara Stockeland, fractional CFO and inventory genius, joins me as we get to the simple truth about inventory, margins, and profitability.
Episode 155 – Building Another Recurring Revenue Stream
One of the biggest benefits of a subscription box business is recurring revenue. You can build ANOTHER recurring revenue stream in your business by adding a membership to your subscription box business.
When I knew I wanted to talk to you about memberships, there was one person who had to be part of the conversation - my long-time mentor and membership guru, Stu McLaren.
In this episode, Stu and I talk about the 4 types of memberships and the questions you need to ask yourself to determine what type of membership would best serve your audience and your business.
Episode 172 – Promoting Your Holiday Box Using Facebook Ads with Josh Coffy
As E-commerce business owners, our goal every day is to get in front of more people. As subscription box owners who face cancellations each month as a reality of doing business, growth depends on getting in front of more people.
Josh is an expert on Ecommerce marketing and Meta ads. He says that whether it’s now or later, you HAVE to figure out advertising. In order to predictably attract new customers, you have to advertise.
Join me for this episode as Josh and I nerd out on all things Facebook Ads and how you can use them to maximize sales!
